The Slater Family Ice Arena sits on the BGSU campus, but also hosts a wide variety of its own, independent events. During my time as a Design Coordinator, my main focus was to integrate the university’s branding into designs that resonated with a diverse audience.

Design Coordinator

“Although this job was only part-time, it gave me a full-time appreciation for creating designs that connected with a wide range of audiences—from college hockey fans to families attending their first event—all while ensuring each piece felt approachable and engaging.”

Social Media

The social media presence for the Slater Family Ice Arena involves promoting a wide range of events, from clinics to hockey game giveaways. The graphics need to embody the Arena's brand identity while also be visually appealing, individually unique, and clearly communicate the desired information.

Holiday Graphics

Holiday messaging is a key part of my work, especially towards the end of the year. Keeping the Ice Arena relevant and engaged with the community is important, so touching on and celebrating major holidays is vital for brand relevancy. Some of these graphics took the liberty of straying slightly from the typical orange and brown identity, but stayed consistent enough to be recognizably part of the Slater Family Ice Arena's messaging.

Video Board Graphics

The Slater Family Ice Arena has two rinks—the arena rink and the practice rink—each with their own video board. These boards are used to display informational and promotional graphics. These graphics require designs that are eye-catching and easy to read, as well as responsive: on hockey game days, a specific graphic is needed to accommodate the score and timer that reside at the bottom of the screen for the entirety of the game.
